Where the hell are YOU?

March 13, 2009

While reading about Tactical Marketing, I came across this amazing concept which just made me smile real wide.

Stride Gum, chanced upon Matt Harding’s dancing and decided to sponsor him to do his dance around the world. It became viral because of it’s pure simplicity and the rest is history….. and all they did was mention their name just once at the credits….

Matt danced a lot and has done three videos. I don’t know anyone till now, who doesn’t smile while watching him do his funny moves…

This was him in 2006…

…. and the recent one in 2008

You can get to know him better at his site …..

So where are YOU today?

And what are you doing today to smile 🙂

Hope you are chewing gum 😉

Raster Faster

June 29, 2008

To Raster and that also Faster, let me show you to your Master!!

No, these are no lines from an upcoming sci-fi movie, it’s just a cool thingie I looked up on the internet the other day, but just couldn’t blog earlier about. Last month’s been pretty busy travelling and doing feasability studies!!

Back to the Rasteriser!! So, you have this cute photo of you and your loved one, or this great picturesque travel photo and would like to enlarge it, say to cover up an entire wall or a portion of it…..seemingly impossible or cumbersome or expensive. Hmmmm enter the RasterBator, which can let you just that from your small office or home printer.

Some background. Images can be of 2 types, Raster and Vector. Simply put Vector images can be enlarged without pixellating unlike Raster images. However, you could use a Vector image; pass it through a RasterBator which ratserizes the image (breaks it up into many smaller multi parts which when joined together make up your entire image). To get an idea, check out the biggest done rasterbation ever!!

I did just that with the free Rasterbator and you can see the result in my office below. Pretty Cool huh!!

7.3 out of 10 … not a bad start….

January 30, 2008

Shift Happens…. when I first saw that presentation, it seemed interesting. I was reminded of the page where it says that “who were we asking over a billion questions every month before Google?”

A lot of people who I talk to and tell them I have started writing a blog say “Wow” but that’s the most they will say, as I imagine that they may think of it as being too cumbersome, or plain gobbledygook. But hey, we don’t realise how dependant we have become of the www because, even though we may not buy online or chat online or blog, we certainly check out everything online.

Help is a Google away!!

Today, I came across Ted who has authored various books on how important it is to effectively manage OUR online presence. He talks about basics like what do you get when you google yourself? You’ll be surprised.

“If you do not exist online, do you really exist??”  What’s your Google Quotient??

Take this simple online quiz to find out your online presence score or download his free e-book and I am sure you will realise the importance of managing your own online presence.

7.3 out of 10 as a score from the quiz didn’t seem that bad.

Surfin’ bird…

January 15, 2008

Queer, ain’t it? While thinking of an apt title of this post, I don’t know why I thought of the song Surfin’ Bird…. now those of you don’t know.. it’s actually a really old song but has been re-done in various versions… why I remember it so vividly is because it has no lyrics (almost)….and its not an instrumental song….. The Trashmen who performed it just babble away in a catchy tune that one can’t forget easily.

Back to the post. Surfin’ Bird came to my mind when I re-looked up Gaping Void. If you don’t know Hugh Macleod… well you are missing out on something. Now I have been looking up the various doodles and cartoons that he does on the back of visiting cards, for quite some time and some of them are real swell like the one’s below.

I must point out that I really recommend you read his HTBC (How to be Creative) page. Its probably the most read page on his website. Also, don’t miss the HughTrain

And in case you haven’t noticed, he’s quite popular on the webspace. I have come to believe that its probably because I like this kind of humour, direct, sometimes very dry yet understated. Remember I also like Dilbert.

Another one here, before I sign off…

The New Year Party was a Blast, a Big BonfireBeer and more Beer, Barbecue and Biryani….. and yep Confetti Bombs …. that was a cool idea. While chewing on the succulent pieces of meat, I couldn’t help thinking of this amazing (I guess so, as I always salivate when I look at it) seasoning idea I looked up the other day. BACON + SALT = BACONSALT

Yep all you foodies; think of the taste of melted bacon and salt combined together …. oooohh… man it must be awesome. “Justin and Dave” chucked their jobs and combined Bacon and Salt to create Bacon Salt; which as per them is VEGETARIAN and yes.. ZERO calorie seasoning salt. What a zany idea. I just loved it. Slurp Slurp. Please send me some if you order for yourself….. Cheffy .. are you listening??

This is what I would call a “flavour-bomb” (A flavour bomb being any food recipe which when combined together in its first bite would give you an refreshing, explosive, multi sensory tasting experience)

Are you ready for Umami – the fifth taste ??

I am hungry now….

What’s your Slogan?

December 5, 2007

I personally liked the last one as my slogan? What would be yours?

This was the after thought. Let me tell you the thought, first.

Like HTML, our thoughts connect with each other and I think mine jump from one to another faster than I would imagine. These thought jumps of course came from page jumps across some incredibly useful web-sites I found today. More about those in my future posts. Coming back to “Sloganising”

Do you want a catchy slogan? Tied up for the right one for your business / ad campaign / teaser / promo. Look no further. Go to Sloganiser, punch in a maximum of two words and yipeeeee you can choose from the random one’s the site throws back. I thought it was funny and of course doubted the sensibility in it. But, after trying various words from funky monkeys to lamb chops to vanilla crispy ….. well I was convinced.

Lastly I also tried my name and the some of the options (besides the hilarious ones) that came up were…

  • Sudeep Chhabra Rocks
  • Sudeep Chhabra, so what??
  • Sudeep Chhabra Non-Stop….
  • Sudeep Chhabra Can….    from where I made my slogan …..

Try your luck. You may get your next best slogan from here….. Then, let me know if you liked it.

SCM – Supply Chain Management

November 16, 2007

Do you know Ajai Chowdhry? I didn’t till I came across an article by India Knowledge @ Wharton. Most of it talks about how beautifully HCL has managed their supply chain to ensure profits. Its well worth the read, even though it looks so formal and bookish to start with.

Quote “When we look at distribution, our objective is to make our partner successful. Most distributors function as fulfillment companies — they move products from A to B, and after that, they simply manage their receivables. In contrast, we define our role as value-added distributors. We initially work with our partners to define a strategy for market entry; then we focus on market growth; and finally we work together to achieve market leadership. That is how we view our role. It involves everything from providing marketing and strategic advice to developing a successful business model.”

For a “Select” few

November 5, 2007

The newest, swankiest mall has opened in Saket. The tenant – mix as its called in “retail-lingo” (meaning the type of retailers present) got me thinking!!! We definitely seem to be ready for “Luxury”.

See the great presentation below on marketing luxurycourtesy Idress Mootee – CEO –Idea Couture

I’ll bet ya didn’t know this ….

November 2, 2007

Some things interest me and some things don’t, like any other person on this planet. However, I have come to realise that only few things don’t interest me. Okay, the difference is the time I spend on these very many things that do interest me.

You may call it random, however the beauty of the World Wide Web is actualy http – i.e Hyper Text Markup Language. One word properly linked could take you to many possibilities and so on and so forth. Something similar to what I told Abhi on his recent blogpost.

I chanced upon some of these random things which caught my fancy. Like a simple act of taking photos. Or this thought provoking post by Scott. Did I tell you about the Bakery?

Hmmmmm any such random things which caught your fancy lately? Tell me about them…

Killer Monkey Gods….

October 31, 2007

Scott Monkey Adams couldn’t help writing about the sad episode of SS Bajwa’s death, apparently from the monkey menace in Delhi. What surprised me are the comments people have left, from the hilarious to the downright stupid. But hey, its the Dilbert Blog…. so anything goes.

Hey Scott, hold on to your banana and nuts!!

Shift happens….Did YOU know??

October 23, 2007

One of the quintessential characters that I have grown up with is Dilbert… I guess it kinda relates to the sarcastic office humour I am part of ..hehehehe…

Scott does an awesome job even in the Dilbert Blog… don’t miss it!! Some of my favourites … pure discussion purposes only hahaha are 1  2  3  4

Lights Camera Action….

October 23, 2007

The proverbial cinema experience….its different for everyone.. each and everyone sitting in the hall. There was a time, when the only possible recreational activity high on the mind was watching a movie.

I was one of those people who abhorred watching Hindi movies…ah but if it was English….man you have my attention….any English movie would do….but Hindi….nah the same ol’ same ol’ story and all those songs…crazy… who had the patience.

Cut to NOW.

Pin Drop Silence…….Great acoustics, background music and once the car chase scene is over….the hero enters the frame and …there you have it. Whistles. Hoots. Claps and the audience has its gate money’s worth.

Being a part of this very communal but personal experience of हिन्दी movie watching, I realise there is something you can’t touch but just feel. Its our own, we immediately relate to it. Become part of it.

I guess a lot also has to do with the kind of हिन्दी movies being released. But it’s all how we relate to it. I do …now.

Pssst….are you listening?

October 16, 2007

While punching them keys on my laptop, I (ahem) overheard this guy coooing some sweet nothings which sounded very funny. Speaking of which, don’t miss some of the crazy quips by the same analogy at overheard in new york as opposed to overheard at office…hehehe I need to start the same for my office.. I am sure it would be a riot!!

ओये यह क्या है ?

October 16, 2007

WowieKazowie – now that’s what I call a word that makes you sit up.

Ummm how did I get this??

I looked up one of my often visited page on flickr which is Valpopando’s pageThis guy is awesome and when you look at some of the photos he has taken, I can only say “WowieKazowie” ….. no other word can describe the beauty that he captures….which makes me come back to these new words that have appeared in our lives… which so often get tagged as “slang” but become part and parcel of our daily lives. I know what my friend Tej Lamba would say – “आई मेह्सूस्मेंत”
